Scots Covidiots fined for sneaking across tier zones for sun bed tanning session

Two Scots tanning fanatics have been fined for illegally crossing council borders to use sun beds.

The men, age 32 and 33, were hauled over by police while driving along High Street in Greenock, Inverclyde at around 8.30pm on Wednesday November 25.

Local officers confirmed that the rebels breached coronavirus rules, by leaving a tier four area to venture into in Inverclyde, a tier three zone.

The pair were caught flouting the rules while trying to visit a local sun bed shop.

The council area, or areas, that the men sneaked out of to top up their tans, is yet to be confirmed.

Police who nailed the men during a 'routine vehicle stop' said both were issued with fixed penalty notices.

A spokeswoman from Police Scotland told the Record: "Officers carried out a routine vehicle stop on High Street, Greenock, around 8.30pm on Wednesday, November 25.

"During the routine stop, it became clear two men within the vehicle were in blatant breach of current coronavirus restrictions.

"A fixed penalty notice was issued to both men, aged 32 and 33."

It comes as a further 51 people have died due to coronavirus in Scotland overnight.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon confirmed that, in the last 24 hours, there have been 1,225 fresh infections, with 1,125 people currently in hospital and 90 being treated in intensive care for Covid-19.
