Scots couple transform garden into open-air cinema and nightclub-inspired bar during lockdown

A Scottish couple made the most of lockdown by transforming their back garden into their very own open-air cinema and nightclub-inspired bar.

Laura Burns and Geo Semple, from Glasgow, kitted out the incredible space with a projector, hot tub, fire pit and plenty of booze so they can chill at home and watch their favourite flicks on a big screen.

The DIY pair even turned their garden shed into an incredible bar complete with a beer tap, drinks display, TV, and a mini fridge stocked with irn bru.

They even created a nightclub-inspired lounge area made from kitchen countertops from B&Q.

Laura, 28, said her partner Geo, who is a landscape gardener, used lockdown as an opportunity to build the stunning cinema and bar – and the couple have been enjoying it ever since.

She told the Record: “My partner is a landscaper and has his own business, we started off with the garden and freshened that up.

"At the very start of lockdown before everything went into place, we drove to Carlisle to collect our new hot tub.

"We then decided that an outdoor cinema would be amazing and managed to track down some things to put it all into place.

"The cabin at the end of the garden was a shed to begin with and my partner lined the walls and insulated it."

The pair had originally planned to use the shed as a gym but decided to sell the equipment and use the money to pay for their new outdoor project.

Laura and Geo painted the walls orange and white, built stylish shelves and decorated the place with cushions.

The couple thought of everything, from a backlight to display their booze collection to a a bar top to serve drinks and even an ice bucket and personalised beer mats.

"We first had it as a gym but as lockdown began the motivation to do anything was not there so my partner wanted his own bar," Laura added.

"He got most of the stuff from B&Q and made the seating area out of kitchen worktops.

"The finishing touch was the blade beer pumps which he totally loves."
