Scots councils Covid infection rates confirmed by Public Health Scotland amid 3,340 new cases

Another 3,340 people have been diagnosed with Covid in Scotland.

Data has been published by the Scottish Government and Public Health Scotland (PHS) this afternoon as part of the national Covid-19 daily briefing.

Nationally, there are 768 patients being treated in hospital which is down 10 from yesterday. There are currently 60 people with the disease being treated in ICUs.

The number of newly-reported positive coronavirus cases recorded by NHS Ayrshire & Arran is up 243 to 47,953.

Of the new cases, 91 were from East Ayrshire, 83 in North Ayrshire and 69 attributed to South Ayrshire.

A total of 674,062 positive tests have now been recorded from 3.505 million tests carried out since the start of the pandemic.

According to Public Health Scotland's rolling seven-day infection rate per 100,000 population, the Orkney Islands has the highest rate in the country – at 642.9 as of Wednesday, November 10.

Clackmannanshire has the second-highest infection rate at 612.2 while East Ayrshire is third with 541.9.

In terms of Ayrshire's other local authorities, it is 388.8 in South Ayrshire and North Ayrshire's is 362.0.

A total of 11 of Scotland's 32 council regions have an infection rate below the national average of 361.6.

A further 26 deaths mean 9,358 people have passed away since March 2020.

However, data from the National Records of Scotland (NRS) shows 11,818 deaths had been registered up to Sunday, November 7 where the disease was mentioned on the death certificate.

Across the UK, the figure is 142,338 as of last night.

There are 68 patients being treated for the disease in Ayrshire hospitals, which is a rise of three on yesterday, and fewer than five people in ICUs.

Nationally, a total of 4,326,392 people have received the first dose of a Covid vaccine and 3,921,971 are doubled jabbed.
