Scots councils Covid infection rate data from Public Health Scotland as 3,867 new cases reported

Another 3,867 Covid cases have been diagnosed in Scotland within the last 24 hours.

Data has been published this afternoon by the Scottish Government and Public Health Scotland (PHS) as part of the national Covid-19 daily briefing.

However, a note on today's report states: "Today's testing and case numbers are still affected by a data flow issue at the Glasgow Lighthouse laboratory.

"The situation has been resolved but the backlog of results has impacted on newly-reported cases and tests over the last couple of days and today."

Nationally, there are 926 patients being treated for Covid in Scotland's hospitals which is the same figure as yesterday while there are 65 people in ICUs.

According to Public Health Scotland's rolling seven-day infection rate per 100,000 population, Clackmannanshire has the highest rate in the country – at 622.0 as of Friday, October 29.

Aberdeenshire has the second-highest infection rate at 462.8 while the Orkney Islands is third with 442.0.

In terms of Ayrshire's local authorities, the rate is 383.2 in East Ayrshire and 331.5 in North Ayrshire. South Ayrshire's is 274.7.

Of the new cases, 126 were reported in North Ayrshire, 110 were attributed to East Ayrshire and there were 61 in South Ayrshire.

A total of 16 of Scotland's 32 council regions have an infection rate below the national average of 328.7.

There have been another 20 deaths which means 9,163 people have passed away since March 2020.

However, data from the National Records of Scotland (NRS) shows 11,538 deaths had been registered up to Sunday, October 24 where the disease was mentioned on the death certificate.

Across the UK, the figure is 140,392 as of last night.

Nationally, a total of 4,315,802 people have received the first dose of a Covid vaccine and 3,905,177 have received their second dose.
