Scots could stay at Romeo and Juliet's house in Verona for free this Valentine's Day

Scots couples could be in with a chance of staying in the most romantic house in the world this Valentine's Day.

Juliet's House in Verona, Italy, is featuring on Airbnb as a luxury stay for two for the first time ever.

The holiday rental site is offering one lovestruck couple the opportunity to spend the night in Casa di Guilietta, the historic home of Shakespeare's Juliet.

The tourist attraction is open daily attracting thousands of visitors every year to the 14th century building with the world's most photographed balcony.

However, it has never been open to the public to stay. Now Airbnb has transformed the building into a sumptuous apartment fit for a modern day love story.

The lucky couple will be treated to a romantic candlelit dinner prepared by two Michelin star chef Giancarlo Perbellini in a glittering dining room, before relaxing in the bedroom which features the original bed used in Zeffirelli's classic 1960s movie.

To be in with a chance to win the stay, couples have to write a letter to Juliet sharing their own poignant love story and why they would be the perfect guests.

Entries have to be submitted to airbnb.com/juliet until 11.59pm on February 2.
