Scots could go on quarantine-free holidays 'by end of month'

Brits could skip quarantine when travelling abroad by the end of this month if infection rates in Europe are low enough.

The UK Government is understood to be considering so-called 'air bridges' with popular hotspots so people don't have to self-isolate for 14 days.

When travel does resume, the UK is enforcing a mandatory two-week quarantine for anyone returning home from June 8.

This has been criticised by travel and hospitality businesses with ministers expected to review it three weeks after it comes into force.

Further details of the quarantine proposal are expected to be laid before Parliament on Tuesday.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson was 'personally in favour' of the idea, The Daily Telegraph reported.

However, Brits have already been blacklisted from travelling to 24 countries over our poor coronavirus record.

Greece, Cyprus and Spain are banning UK travellers from visiting at the moment.

Other countries have closed their borders and stopped flights to the UK in response to the unprecedented pandemic.

Meanwhile, some places such as Sicily and Japan are offering to pay holidaymakers to visit them in a desperate bid to boost their tourism industry.
