Scots coronavirus vaccine centre plunged into chaos after fridge breaks down

A Scots vaccination centre was plunged into chaos after a fridge broke down.

Replacement Covid-19 vaccines had to be brought in after the fridge failure Glentrothes' Rothes Halls site, Fife, which delayed jab appointments this morning.

NHS Fife said the clinic was now running again with people encouraged to turn up.

In a statement, the health board said: “We experienced a brief issue earlier this morning at our Rothes Halls community Covid-19 vaccination clinic following a fridge failure overnight.

“The problem only affected those with appointments in the early part of the morning with replacement vaccines were delivered to the venue quickly.

"People whose vaccinations could not be carried out initially are being contacted to offer a rescheduled appointment for later today.”

NHS Fife said people should only arrive on time for their appointment rather than early.

They said this helps to prevent unnecessary delays and enables that the appropriate physical distancing can be maintained for everyone in attendance.
