Ex-Coronation Street actor Gray O'Brien has revealed he is recovering from cancer .
The Scottish star was diagnosed with stage four tonsil cancer after a routine trip to the doctor three months ago.
And he celebrated the end of his gruelling treatment by ringing the Beatson bell at the Glasgow institution yesterday.
The 51-year-old Glaswegian is best known for playing villain Tony Gordon in the popular ITV show, and Dr. Richard McCaig in Casualty.
Posting on his Twitter account, Gray praised the Beatson staff saying: "About 3 months ago a trip to the doctors with swollen glands led to stage four tonsil cancer.
"Today marks the end of my treatment and I couldn't be more thankful to everyone who has supported me along the way."
Well wishers took to social media to congratulate the star, with many sending love and continued support.
Broadcaster Grant Stott said: "Mate, I had no idea. So sorry you’ve had a hellish time but delighted to see you ring that f****n bell!!! Hugs and love for your recovery!"
River City actor Stephen Purdon added: "Great to see you ringing the bell mate, lots of love."
And Colin McCredie said: "That is so bloody awful. So pleased to see you “ring the bell”. Sending my very best."
