Scots cops warning over planned 'car meet' at park tonight amid continuing covid restrictions

Cops have warned petrol heads over a planned car meet up tonight at a Scots park- due to ongoing coronavirus restrictions.

The gathering has been advertised on social media for Strathclyde County Park outside of Motherwel l, Lanarkshire

Officers will be patrolling the area to make sure anyone attending is complying with current covid rules.

With Lanarkshire in level 2 the maximum number of people who can meet outside is eight.

The Scottish Government states (at level 2) "The maximum number of people who can meet socially outdoors in a private garden or in a public place such as a park or an outdoor area of a café is 8, which can be from up to 8 separate households.

"This applies to anyone aged 12 or over. Two metre physical distancing should be maintained between members of different households."

A police spokesman said: "Lanarkshire Police Division have been made aware of a 'Car Meet' scheduled for tomorrow at Strathclyde County Park.

"Local officers will be carrying out targeted patrols in the area to ensure the safety of those involved and the wider public."

The social events have often been held at the park and provide a chance for car lovers to show off their prized motors.
