Scots cops 'seize £50,000 worth of drugs' near border on day of Auld Enemy clash

Two men are due to appear in court after Scottish police allegedly recovered £50,000 worth of drugs close to the border.

Police Scotland said officers in Dumfries and Galloway stopped a car near junction 15 on the M74, around 30 miles from the border with England.

Two men, aged 19 and 20, have been arrested after herbal cannabis, said to be worth around £50,000 on the street, was allegedly recovered following a search of the vehicle in question.

The motorway raid took place yesterday, Friday, June 18, as Scotland drew 0-0 with England in their Euro 2020 clash at Wembley.

The suspects are due to appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court on Monday, June 21.

Sergeant Jonathan Edgar from Dumfries & Galloway Road Policing said: "This is a significant amount of drugs that have been taken off the streets by our officers.

"These now cannot be sold, and prevent harm being caused in our communities."
