Scots cops probing theft of three puppies following 'positive line of enquiry'

Police investigating the theft of three adorable bulldog puppies from a home in Aberdeen say they are following a lead in the case, days after the pups were stolen.

The seven-week-old red nose bullies were lifted from a property in the Cornhill area of the Granite City at about 7.25pm on Sunday March 19 – as their owner was out celebrating Mother's Day. Callous crooks locked the mother of the pups in the kitchen while they snatched up the prized pooches.

Seven other puppies from the same litter were left behind. Police immediately launched an investigation into the break-in and theft, and tonight confirmed they were following up on a solid lead.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Our investigation is ongoing and officers are following a positive line of enquiry."

Devastated puppy owner Becca Ewen previously told the Record said she had "never been so heartbroken" after coming home to find three of the puppies had been snatched. She has begged those responsible to return the dogs.

She said earlier this week: "I've never been so heartbroken in my life. I can’t sleep or eat in pure panic.

"The puppies haven't had their first jags yet or been microchipped. They are all the same colour with their own little markings on them.

"I locked the door of my house before I left. It must be someone who knows me - why leave seven puppies and only take three?"

Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting incident 2885 of March 19. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.
