A police helicopter was deployed during a search relating to an 'ongoing enquiry' in Milngavie yesterday.
Residents spotted the police chopper in the East Renfrewshire town, alongside three police vans and three police bikes.
Several others posted images and videos of a black police helicopter flying over the area shortly afterwards.
Officers were out on foot in Main Street in Milngavie amid an ongoing search of the area.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were carrying out a search on the evening of Sunday, 6 June, in the area around Main Street in Milngavie, in connection with an ongoing police enquiry.
"No arrests were made and our enquiries are ongoing.”
The news comes just days after a 24-year-old man was stabbed with bladed weapons by two men in nearby Bearsden.
