Scots cop hospitalised after dog attack while breaking up Covid breach party

p A cop was taken to hospital after being attacked by an a href=https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/dangerous-scots-dog-run-after-23078841 data-link-tracking=InArticle|Link data-content-type=newsout-of-control/a Bull Terrier when he went to break up a a href=https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/all-about/coronavirus data-link-tracking=InArticle|Link data-content-type=section-topicCovid/a party. /p pThe dog pounced on the male officer in a Johnstone close as he went to investigate reports of an illegal gathering./p pThe shocking incident, which unfolded in Spateston Road, left the cop with a leg wound requiring treatment at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley./p p/ p/ pIt is understood he will continue with his duties and has been placed on a course of antibiotics./p pPolice were called to reports that a number of people were breaching strict Covid-19 restrictions designed to stop the spread of the potentially-deadly virus around 3.25pm on Friday./p pAs they made their way down the close they passed the dog, which a woman was holding on a short leash. She lost her grip and the powerful pet jumped up and bit the officer#x2019;s leg./p pIt later came to light the dog should have been muzzled./p pThree people were given Covid-19 tickets for breaching regulations./p pA Police Scotland spokesman said: #x201C;Police attended an address in Spateston Road, Johnstone, at around 3.25pm on Friday after reports of a gathering which potentially breached current Covid-19 restrictions./p p#x201C;In the course of those enquiries a male officer was injured when he was bitten by a dog and was treated in hospital./p p #x201C;A number of people were issued with Fixed Penalty br/ Notices. /p p#x201C;Police officers, like everyone else, have the right to go to work and return home safely without fear of injury./p p#x201C;We have a zero tolerance approach to all acts of violence against offices and we will investigate the circumstances of all incidents fully.#x201D;/p p#x201C;Enquires are continuing.#x201D;/p pA Police Scotland spokesman confirmed a 25-year-old woman has been arrested and charged under the Control of Dogs Act (Scotland)./p pA report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal/p
