Scots confused after two giant ice blocks dumped on Glasgow street

Scots have been left confused after two giant ice boxes were dumped on the street.

The ice appeared in St Enoch Square, Glasgow on Friday July 24 amid the blistering heat, according to Glasgow Live.

It is in fact part of a public installation from non-profit organisation Passivhaus Trust called 'Icebox Challenge Glasgow.'

The installation is mean to highlight the benefits 'of adopting a simple efficiency-first approach to buildings.'

Both giant blocks are being held separately and will be on display for the following two weeks.

One structure has been build to the Scottish Building Standard and the other to the Passivhaus Standard, considered to be an international gold standard but both are holding an equal amount of ice.

They will be measured and weighed at the end and however much ice remains will demonstrate how well each icebox keeps the heat out passively, without relying on any energy.

It comes ahead of the COP26 Summit or 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference which is due to take place in Glasgow between October and November this year.

The public installation is free to attend and will be on display until August 6 with volunteers available to answer any queries.
