Scots Community Hospital shut doors to new patients after coronavirus case

A Scots Community Hospital has closed the doors to new patients after a positive covid-19 case.

One patient at St Margaret’s Community Hospital in Auchterarder has become infected with coronavirus.

NHS Tayside confirmed the case has forced the facility to turn away new patients to keep the deadly virus contained.

The 10-bed hospital is hoping to reopen to the public in seven days as a precautionary measure.

Visiting has also been banned at the hospital until restrictions are lifted.

NHS Tayside statement: "St Margaret’s Community Hospital closed to new admissions.

"St Margaret’s Community Hospital in Auchterarder has been temporarily closed to new admissions due to a single case of COVID-19.

"The 10-bed hospital has been closed to new patients for seven days as a precautionary measure and all appropriate infection prevention and control measures have been put in place.

"Visiting has also been temporarily suspended at the hospital to help minimise the spread of the virus."
