The chippy which came up with the deep-fried Mars bar has battered its rivals and will represent Scotland in a contest to crown the UK’s top fish and chip shop.
Stonehaven’s Carron Fish Bar put the town on the global gastronomy map by frying the soaked in batter.
Now, the famous friers will take part in the 2020 Awards.
Contest organisers Seafish, the public body which supports the £10billion UK seafood industry, said the competition showcases excellence.
Judges arrive at chippies without warning, just like star inspectors, to check out finalists.

Carron owner Lorraine Watson said: “A guy came in and went through everything in the shop with a fine-tooth comb. They look at our training, working ability and standards, and the quality of what we offer.
"It’s like the inspectors of fish and chip shops.
“He left a booklet about himself and it turns out he’s world-renowned.
“It was a privilege to even be in his company.”
came out on top in Scotland and Northern Ireland and will now compete at the final in London in January.
Lorraine praised her son Murray and shop manager Jenny Middleton.

She said: “There will be one more mystery visit to come before we head to London for the final fry-off.”
The deep-fried Mars bar was created in 1992, when the Carron was known as the Haven.
Schoolboy John Davie, now living in Melbourne, dared pal Brian McDonald to eat a deep-fried Mars bar.
Years later, John confessed to the Record he’d never tasted one himself as he doesn’t like chocolate.
