A Scots chef has told how he felt “surreal” after becoming a millionaire from a scratch card.
The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, used a Lottoland “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” scratch card and was left stunned when he was told he had won £1million with the funds going into his bank account next week.
He said: “I am quite new to Lottoland but I was impressed with the range of games on offer. When I found out that I hadn’t won on the Irish Lotto, I decided to buy a couple of scratchcards to try my luck there.
“And it worked! I thought I’d struck lucky when I won a fiver on the first one but was shocked when the second was an even bigger win, £1 million!”
Nigel Birrell, CEO of Lottoland, said: “I absolutely love listening to peoples’ voices when they learn that they’ve won a jackpot.
“And we’ve been lucky enough at Lottoland to hear a few of these calls now. This winner’s life has changed forever and it’s great to be a part of that.”
The chef joins a number of instant millionaires from Lottoland over the last few years and the second in the UK.
Winners include Christina, a cleaner from Germany won a record-breaking £79million on the EuroJackpot in 2018.
Lottoland scratchcards have been running since 2016 with prizes from £100 to £20million.
They operate in the same way as a traditional scratchcard, by matching symbols on the card.
