Scots celebs give fans sneak peak at Christmas celebrations from carols to gingerbread houses

Scots celebs have taken to social media to wish a Merry Christmas with a variety of approaches - from singing carols to baking stunning gingerbread houses.

This Morning presenter Lorraine Kelly broke down in tears on the show as she listened to a specially recorded message from her mum.

Lorraine is unable to see her on the big day because of coronavirus restrictions.

Scots Outlander star Sam Heughan took to Twitter to wish everyone the season's best with a particularly Scottish twist.

Sat on a tartan blanket with whisky in hand and a toy Highland cow he tweeted: "Merry Xmas from me “coo” to you."

While Pride of Scotland winner Doddie Weir wished everyone a Merry Christmas and joked about getting in a tangle trying to decorate the tree.

The Scotland rugby legend, who is battling Motor Neurone Disease, was wrapped in fairy lights while thanking everyone who supported his foundatin.

And he joked: “I was only trying to help my good lady decorate the Christmas tree and look what happened.”

Scots celeb chef Gordon Ramsay wished his followers on Twitter a happy Christmas by sharing a video of a delicious looking gingerbread village dusted with sugar as snow.

He wrote: "Wishing you all a very Merry #Christmas and Happy Holidays ! Be safe and healthy this Holiday Season Gx"

Annie Lennox took to the piano (Instagram)

Scots X Factor runner up Nicholas McDonald shared a snap on Facebook with his wife celebrating his first Christmas as a married man.

He wrote: "Merry Christmas for ours to yours."

Meanwhile Scots music sensation Annie Lennox took to Instagram to share a piano rendition of traditional favourite 'in the bleak midwinter'.

The Aberdeen-born Eurythmics star wrote: "Seasons Greetings to All!. Love Annie L."
