Scots celebs cheer on Scotland in first UEFA EURO 2020 match as team clash with Czech Republic

Scottish celebrities have thrown their support behind Scotland for the Euro 2020 opener.

Thousands of nervous fans tuned in to watch Scotland take on Czech Republic at Hampden this afternoon in the country's first match at a major tournament for 23 years.

Lorraine Kelly, Martin Compston, Kevin Bridges, Amy Macdonald, Janey Godley and Iain Stirling were among famous faces to join the Tartan Army in cheering on the team.

Politicians including Nicola Sturgeon and Humza Yousaf were also on hand to show their support to Scotland ahead of their opener which kicked off at 2pm.

Around 12,000 buzzing fans headed to Hampden Park to watch the clash plastered in tartan and saltires, as 3,000 gathered at the Glasgow Green fan zone.

It was a disappointing start for Scotland who were defeated by Czech Republic in their first match since the national team last qualified for the World Cup in France '98.

The Czech's won 2-0.
