A number of people have died at a Scots care home after contracting Covid-19 as 48 people in total tested positive for the deadly bug.
NHS chiefs confirmed the outbreak at Lomond Court in the Woodside area on Glenrothes, Fife on Friday December 11.
A total of 26 residents and 22 workers at the HC One facility have caught the virus.
It's believed less that five people have died after contracting Covid-19 at the care home.
Lomond Court is closed to visitors and is not taking new admissions in the wake of the tragic news.
HC One bosses released a statement expressing their sympathy for 'families who have lost a loved one' and assured those connected to the home that staff 'continue to implement infection control'.
NHS Fife confirmed the 48 cases and the 'loss of life' at the facility.
A spokesperson said: “NHS Fife can confirm that 26 residents and 22 staff associated with Lomond Court Care Home in Glenrothes have tested positive for COVID-19.
"Sadly, there has been loss of life connected to the cluster.
"We can confirm that the number is less than five.
“NHS Fife’s Health Protection Team and the Fife Health and Social Care Partnership are working alongside Fife Council’s Environmental Health Service to support to the management of the care home and help reduce further transmission of the virus.”
Fife is currently under level 3 restrictions in Scotland's five-tier system.
It comes as many areas in Scotland's central belt were moved from tier four to a less severe tier three on Friday.
