Scots car left 'burnt out' on Glasgow street as emergency crews dash to blazes

Residents on one Glasgow street woke to find a burnt-out car after emergency crews dashed to two blazes.

The car wreckage was discovered by locals in the Haghill area of the city on Wednesday morning.

Fire crews raced to reports of two cars on fire on Aberfoyle Street shortly after 12am on Wednesday.

Just hours later, the alarm was raised with another car ablaze on nearby Walter Street at around 7:40am.

It's not clear how the fires started.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 12.07am on Wednesday, June 23 to reports of two cars on fire at Aberfoyle Street, Glasgow.

“Operations Control mobilised one appliance and firefighters extinguished a fire affecting two vehicles.

“There were no reported casualties and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”

They added: “We were alerted at 7.39am on Wednesday, June 23 to reports of a car on fire at Walter Street, Glasgow.

“Operations Control mobilised one appliance and firefighters extinguished a fire affecting one vehicle.

“There were no reported casualties and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”

Police Scotland say they have not received reports of the incident.

It comes as police probe a third firebomb attack in Glasgow after seven motors torched across the city in crime spree.

Officers are investigating a third attack after a Volkswagen Golf torched on Hugo Close in the Maryhill area of the city at 12.40am on Tuesday morning.

A campervan and two cars were also set alight outside the home on Ashgill Road at around 2am on Tuesday morning, with locals evacuated from their homes.

Just an hour earlier, on the city's Porchester Street, residents in a block of flats had a lucky escape when three vehicles were set alight just yards from the building.
