Scots can travel to just six destinations without quarantine or restrictions

Scottish holidaymakers can now travel to just six destinations without any quarantine or coronavirus restrictions as infections soar.

The Scottish Government has been keeping a close eye on the virus situation in countries worldwide and are constantly updating the 'safe' list.

There are currently around 50 countries on the Scotland's quarantine exemption list, where 14-day self-isolation is not required on return.

However, some destinations have shut their borders or have strict entry requirements for tourists.

Australia is only letting citizens enter the country, while those travelling to Cyprus require a negative Covid-19 test before flying.

This means only a handful of countries are left for Scottish holidaymakers wanting to jet away on a hassle-free trip.

The countries exempt from quarantine and with no entry restrictions are:

  • Germany
  • Poland
  • Sweden
  • Italy
  • Turkey
  • Gibraltar

Denmark, Iceland, Slovakia and the Caribbean island of Curacao were the latest destinations to be be added to Scotland's quarantine list last week.

The Scottish Government usually impose quarantine measures for countries recording at least 20 cases per 100,000 over seven days.

The country has seen a recent spike in infections, with further lockdown restrictions put in place to stop the spread of the daily virus.

Cases are also spiking in countries abroad, with Poland, Turkey and Italy among the next set of nations likely to be added to the quarantine list.

In the past two months, Greece, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Hungary, Malta, the Netherlands, mainland Portugal, Spain, Slovenia and Switzerland have all been axed.

Travellers are legally required to fill out a 'Passenger Locator Form' when they return to Scotland.

This protects public health and ensures those who need to are complying with self-isolation rules.
