Scots can meet family and friends indoors from July 10 as lockdown eases further

New dates have been set out for when Scots can finally reunite with friends and family indoors.

After a few weeks of being forced to socialise in the pouring rain, the First Minister has revealed when different households will be able to mix inside.

From July 10, Nicola Sturgeon has confirmed that households will be able to meet people from more than two households outdoors.

As well as this, people will be able to meet two other households indoors for the first time in months.

The First Minister made the announcement at today's coronavirus daily briefing, in which she also announced multiple other dates for when sites such as hairdressers, pubs and cinemas can reopen.

July 15 will see a number of phase three measures implemented with a range of indoor locations allowed to reopen as long as they meet hygiene and social distancing requirements.

Nicola Sturgeon said that these dates have been informed by the Scottish Government's Scientific Advisory Group - which has looked at what locations pose a higher risk of transmission.

However, it was also strongly communicated that these dates will only go ahead provided that the country continues to make positive progress in lowering the spread of the virus.

At present, the rate of infection has fallen significantly to allow some aspects of normal life to resume in the very near future.

The First Minister also stated that they hope to potentially move into phase four of the lockdown route map provided this progress continues.
