Scots can get their hands on Ed Sheeran's most prized possessions in star-studded charity auction

Scots will be able to bid for some of Ed Sheeran’s most prized possessions in a charity auction.

The Shape of You singer has donated a number of his childhood items to raise funds for causes in his home county of Suffolk, reports the Mirror.

Included in the auction will be Lego bricks he once played with as a child, handwritten lyrics as well as a flyer and a ticket to his first ever gig.

Ed’s parents John and Imogen played a vital role in setting up the charity clear out as they sought to create a lasting legacy from the Ed Sheeran: Made in Suffolk exhibition in Ipswich.

The exhibition will tell the story of Ed’s rise to stardom.

His parents got the idea to hold an auction to support the young in Suffolk after meeting Gina Long, founder of charity GeeWizz.

Proceeds will help GeeWizz redevelop a playground for kids with special educational needs and disabilities.

And they will boost Zest, part of Ipswich’s St Elizabeth Hospice, which helps teens with progressive and incurable illnesses.

Stars such as David Beckham, Usain Bolt and Kylie Minogue have also donated items to the auction.

John said: “Proceeds will help improve quality of care and wellbeing for children and young adults across Suffolk. We cannot think of a better legacy for the exhibition.”

Mrs Long added: “The incredible generosity of Ed, the Sheeran family, our sponsors and auction lot donors around the world is truly overwhelming.”

Among the 220 lots are guitars from Snow Patrol and Cockney Rebel frontman Steve Harley – and a signed print by artist Damien Hirst. The auction runs until November 8 at edsheeranmadeinsuffolklegacyauction.com.
