Scots can earn an extra £300 for simply going to the gym this year

Up to 50 per cent of non-gym goers find the idea of signing up and working out scary, according to PureGym.

As many as one in three gym users have canceled their memberships due to a lack of confidence in using the equipment and facilities in gyms across the country.

In order to improve these numbers, PureGym is running a testing programme where gym newbies will be asked to provide feedback on their gym experiences.

What's more, those chosen to be 'Gym Testers' will enjoy a free membership as well as a £300 reward.

The flexible programme will allow testers to attend a number of gyms and do so at their own leisure.

Meaning visits can fit around your main job, childcare or studies.

Stephen Rowe, Chief Marketing Officer at PureGym, explained: “At PureGym we pride ourselves on being a gym where everyone can feel welcome and supported but we know that it can still be an intimidating experience for those who are new to a gym.

"So we are constantly evolving our gym environment and member support to make the gym experience more enjoyable for everyone.

"Member feedback is crucial in shaping what we do, but we wanted to get more in-depth, qualitative data on just how new members find the PureGym experience.

"We are really excited to see what our Gym Testers have to say and use this to help make our gyms a more welcoming environment.”

What is a 'Gym Tester'?

PureGym are looking for two testers who would be asked to provide in-depth - and brutally honest - feedback on what it is like to be a new member.

Each Gym Tester will be provided with a six-month free Plus Membership and rewarded with £300 for their insights on the gym experience.

Testers will also be given the chance to speak to Insight Managers about the gym with feedback being used to improve future experiences.

Who can apply?

PureGym is looking for applications from those who are new to the gym.

The goal of the testing programme is to help those who are new to the gym environment and those who may even be scared to join.

The role is ideally looking for people who are a bit nervous or apprehensive when it comes to working out - whatever the reason may be.

If this is you and you really want to face your fears and smash that 2022 fitness resolution, this could be the role for you.

'Gym Tester' tasks include:

  • Download and use the PureGym app to enter the gym

  • Use the support available to help you get started at your gym

  • Visit the gym a minimum of eight times, including trying two fitness classes

  • Rate each visit across several criteria, including gym layout, equipment, and atmosphere

The role is flexible as you can visit a number of gyms across the country at a time that suits you.

Applications are now open to anyone who is over the age of 18 and is a resident of the UK.

All you need to do is sImply fill out the form, explaining why you would make the perfect Gym Tester.

The closing date for applications is Sunday, January 30 at 11:59PM.
