Scots cafe delivers brutal reply to customer after 'mean little review'

A Scots café has hit back at a 'mean little review' left by a customer online.

The Wonder Spot in Stockbridge, Edinburgh, was left furious after a man named 'Colin' branded them 'greedy and disgusting'.

In a review left online, 'Colin' accused the cafe of serving him a "extremely poor, finger-wedged size" slice of cake for £3.95 and told owners to "have a rethink".

But the Edinburgh hit back at the review and urged customers 'don't be a Colin' after they defended their pricing.

They said: "We don't do big, cheap sugary cakes [...]we stock smaller cakes packed with smaller ingredients, no crap, not much sugar."

They added that while they are not doing sampling due to coronavirus customers are urged to let them know if they're unhappy with their order.

They continued: "We'll do whatever we can to make it right. We just want you to come in and have a lovely time.

"That's why we use the best suppliers.

"It's why we pay our staff real living wage.

"It's why you'll occasionally find us still here at midnight.

"But really if there's anything you don't like, just talk to us.

"Be human. Don't post a mean little review.

"We - like every hospitality business right - are trying our best to bounce back, to be what you want us to be.

"But nae massive sugary confections. Sorry."

In a bold move the café even framed the review and mounted it on the wall.

It comes as the cafe reopened their doors after months of lockdown and disruption from major works outside.

A new addition to the neighbourhood in January, the vegetarian café "celebrates creativity" and even features a pop-up gallery and mini library.

The café also locally and ethically sourced produce  - including IJ Mellis' cheese and cakes from Archipelago Bakery.
