A building firm boss punched a bouncer during a “melee” among revellers at a bar in Edinburgh city centre.
Ryan Moore landed the blow on security worker Craig Ross who was trying to eject him from Bar Salsa.
Moore was arrested over the incident after cops put out a Facebook appeal trying to identify Craig’s attacker.
Fighting had broken out between two groups in the Cowgatehead pub with doormen struggling to contain the violence.
The disorder spilled outside where police were called to break up the trouble.
Moore, 34, appeared at the city’s sheriff court on Wednesday and admitted a charge of assault.
Fiscal depute Sarah Noon said a “bit of a melee” had broken out in the pub at around 9.30pm and “staff has a reason to eject Mr Moore”.
Ms Noon said Craig had removed Moore from the premises when the thug “removed his jumper and displayed effectively a fighting stance”.
The prosecutor said Moore “swung a punch” which struck Craig in the face as the larger disturbance continued out onto the street.
The court heard it had “taken some time to identify the accused” over his role before he was snared following the police’s Facebook post.
Defence agent Nicola Haston said her client was a self-employed builder with five employees.
Dad-of-one Moore had been “drinking excessively” before the incident on March 22 2019, she added, and he knew his behaviour was “unacceptable”.
Sheriff Adrian Cottam ordered Moore, of the city’s Gilmerton area, to pay the victim £250 in compensation.
