Scots bride-to-be thrown surprise hen party in Glasgow park as Covid restrictions eased

A Scots bride-to-be celebrated a surprise hen party in a Glasgow park as coronavirus restrictions eased, saying it was 'better than Benidorm'.

With six people allowed to meet outdoors as of today, Michaela McGinley's pals invited her out for a day in Kelvingrove Park.

But Michaela was shocked to find her friends had brought along a bridal veil to celebrate her upcoming wedding in the baking sun.

The 27-year-old was due to marry partner Tony McMullen last May but the nuptials were cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Teacher Michaela is hopeful nothing will now stand in the way of them tying the knot next Month.

She told the Record: "It's just been fantastic to catch up with all my friends and enjoy the sun.

"It's been the best day I could have hoped for, and with everything that's happened I've been lucky with the weather today at least.

"It's been better than Benidorm.

"It all came as a total surprise, my friends had just texted to meet up so I went to the park and brought snacks and a blanket.

"They brought a bridal veil and we had a wee hen doo of our own.

"There have been four different cancelled hen doos and a cancelled wedding but I'm feeling confident for this May."
