Scots bride has first dance with husband in church car park so friends and family can watch

A Scots couple had their first dance in a church car park after Covid-19 cancelled their reception.

Lynn Duffy, 31, and Steven Bennett, 32, planned a major party at Airth Castle in Stirlingshire with 170 guests flying in from all over the world.

But after the pandemic cancelled their plans, the newlyweds decided to hold a smaller party at St Paul's church in Shettleston Glasgow instead.

They were married on Monday, December 28.

They danced to a piper under a car park flood light with guests watching from a safe social distance.

Primary school teacher Lynn came up with the idea after her original plans had to be ditched to avoid spreading the virus.

The couple then headed to George Square in limos to have their pictures taken under Glasgow Christmas lights.

A family friend said: “It’s really a shame that their reception was cancelled but their car park dance is a nice way for them to still celebrate.

“There was supposed to be 170 people from all over the world coming from America and Spain to Airth Castle.

“They are getting married at St Pauls with the floodlight on the car park with a piper.

“The couple has a wee chocolate brown lab that I am also bringing along for them to get some pictures with.

“After their dance they are taking limos to George Square and get pictures under the Christmas lights.

“It was just a last minute plan for Lynn but good they can at least do something.

“They are really doing something different. It's really nice to see.”
