Scots boyfriend mortified as brazen girlfriend uses Irn-Bru and milk to check size of new fridge

This the hilarious moment a Scots shopper whipped out a bottle of Irn-Bru and pint of milk to make sure they fit the fridge she was wanting to buy.

William Denniston was mortified when his brazen girlfriend, Abby Trainor, slid the two bottles into the door of a fridge on display at their local Currys.

The couple, from Glasgow, are in the market for a fridge-freezer, having just bought their first home together in East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire.

Taking no chances, Abby, 29, wanted to make sure two all-important drinks would fit into whichever appliance they went for, by trying them out for size.

William, 30, was in stitches when he realised Abby's game plan.

The welder told the Record: "On Tuesday night we saw the fridge online and thought it would do, but one of the reviews claimed you could barely fit a pint of milk in it.

"Abby mentioned going to the shop and trying it for size herself but I thought she was joking."

As the couple headed to the East Kilbride Currys the next day, Abby asked William to pull over at the nearby Aldi store to buy a pint of milk beforehand.

"I told her there was no way I was going into Currys if she was walking in there with a pint of milk, but Abby went into the Aldi anyway," he added.

"Sure enough we walked in, and Abby had an Aldi bag with the milk inside.

"I then realised she'd taken a full bottle of Irn-Bru from my house too, just to make sure juice would fit in the fridge.

"If felt like there were hundreds of people in the shop watching, I couldn't believe it."

Putting his embarrassment aside to find the hilarity in the situation, William began filming an unsuspecting Abby as she pulled out the pint and the bottle and opened the fridge door.

"Both the pint and the Irn-Bru did fit, so we ordered up the fridge, it was all worth it in the end," William said.

"We move in to the house next month so we'll get to use it from then."

In less than 24 hours over 14,000 people have liked William's video while over 700 people have shared it.

"I shared the video on Twitter and with my friends thinking nothing of it, but my phone went daft," he said.

"I had to turn my notifications off, but I did see Irn-Bru shared the video which was brilliant, as I'm a big fan."

Irn-Bru did in fact share the clip and wrote, 'Someone with their priorities straight'.

Twitter users hailed the idea as 'genius'.

One commented: "Here, that's a great idea.

"I need a new fridge freezer and it needs to hold two to four litre jugs of milk comfortably."

Another added: "I'd be more concerned about her teaming leggings with a North Face body warmer.

"Is she going to the gym or fighting the cold?

A third posted: "To be honest, she’s 100 per cent right to do this."

Another wrote: "As someone who has a fridge that doesn’t fit the f*****g milk in, genius idea."
