A Scots 14-year-old has been charged with the sexual assault of a seven-year-old girl.
The incident occurred between 5pm and 6.30pm on Saturday July 10 near Castle Green Playpark in Broughty Ferry, Dundee.
The 14-year-old was arrested on Tuesday July 13 and was charged on Wednesday July 14, according to Police Scotland.
A joint report will also be sent to the Procurator Fiscal and Children’s Reporter.
Police previously said that the assault was an isolated incident and asked for anyone in the area at the time who could assist to come forward.
Detective Inspector Gail Hill said: “We understand that this has been a distressing incident for those involved and an emotive incident felt by the whole local community.
“I would ask now that the public act responsibly and are mindful to the ongoing live legal proceedings in this case.
“I would like to thank the local community and all who assisted while our investigations have been ongoing.”
