Scots boy, 15, who raped young woman at knifepoint on wasteland in Fife is jailed

A Scots teenager who brutally raped a young woman at knifepoint has been sentenced to seven years behind bars.

The boy, who was just 14-years-old at the time, subjected his victim to the terrifying ordeal in Methil, Fife, at around 8pm on January 29, 2019.

He approached the 20-year-old woman as she walked along Herriot Crescent and onto Kirkland Road before grabbing her and threatening her with a blade.

The teenager was handed a seven year sentence when he appeared at the High Court in Glasgow on Wednesday (PA)

The fiend, who cannot be named for legal reasons, then led her to wasteland near Laird Avenue where he brutally raped her.

The brave woman managed to grab the weapon from his pocket before running naked away from the scene, fearing he was chasing her.

She sought help from two men working at a nearby garage and was heard shouting: “Help me, he’s going to kill me.”

Investigators released an image of the distinctive knife in their bid to snare the attacker who was later arrested and charged.

The teenager, now 15, appeared at the High Court in Glasgow on Wednesday where he was handed a seven year prison sentence and placed on the sex offenders register for life.

Detective Inspector Kelly McEwan, senior investigating officer on this case said: “This was a complex investigation and involved a number of officers, specialists and partners, along with the support of the local community in Methil.

“This has been a truly horrendous and traumatising incident and will no doubt have lasting effects on the victim but I would like to thank her for assisting with our enquiries and the courage and dignity she has shown throughout.

“We are committed to keeping Fife a safe place and will always treat reports of sexual offences with the upmost professionalism.

“Victims will be supported and offences will be thoroughly investigated in an effort to bring perpetrators to justice".
