Scots boxing hero Ricky Burns snubbed for Anthony Joshua undercard, manager reveals

Ricky Burns will miss out on two blockbuster fight cards, his manager has revealed.

The Coatbridge boxer was to fly the flag for Scotland in America as part of the blockbuster Anthony Joshua and Jarrell Miller undercard , but manager Alex Morrison has revealed the 36-year-old will no longer appear.

Morrison added that Burns had cancelled his holiday having been promised a headline bout in London, but it is yet to materialise.

The only Scottish boxer ever to have held titles in three different weight divisions has not fought since his knockout win over Scott Cardle in November 2018.

Morrison told the Airdrie and Coatbridge Advertiser: “We had fights lined up in London and America. Ricky cancelled his holiday for them, and it cost him about £3000.

“People behind the scenes kept putting things off and now we don’t know what is happening.

“We will find out more later in the week.”
