Scots bar sparks fury as locals wake up to makeshift beer tent in communal garden

An Edinburgh bar has angered locals who say it erected a pop-up beer tent in a communal garden at the back of a tenement without informing them.

Locals woke up to find the white tent with picnic tables covering beds of plants, according to Edinburgh Live.

The gazebo is being advertised as an outdoor ‘speakeasy’ by Boteco do Brazil, on Lothian Street.

Residents were enraged further by a manager’s claim the area was going to be designated as a place for “quiet study”.

Those living in the block of flats were quick to point out the space is a "private garden shed", not a public space.

But bar staff have reacted by deleting comments criticising the move from their Facebook page, leaving those living in the block furious.

Images show the makeshift beer garden, complete with a Red Bull branded rusted barrel, just yards from the front door of a tenement at the rear of the bar.

Edinburgh Live attempted to contact Boteco do Brazil for comment, but received no response.
