Scots B&M rammy as worker battered with shopping bag on New Year's Day

A yob attacked a shop worker during an early morning rant over opening hours.

The lout set off the alarm when he tried to get inside the B&M store in Linwood at around 6am on New Year’s Day.

Responding to an alarm activation at the closed shop, the deputy manager went to the scene only to be confronted by the thug who began shouting and swearing at him as he remonstrated about opening times.

Cops said the suspect then pushed the 24-year-old man before hitting him with a full plastic bag.

The victim did not sustain any serious injuries.

Police Scotland is now appealing for information.

A force spokesman said: “A 24-year-old man was approached and assaulted by an unknown male outside the B&M shop in Linwood at around 6am on January 1.

“If you saw or heard this incident please get in touch with police.”
