Scots asked to adopt 1000 hens to save them from slaughterhouse

Scots are being asked to adopt more than 1,000 hens who would otherwise be slaughtered.

Briana Carey launched a public appeal on social media to save the hens, who live in Dunkeld, Perth and Kinross, on Thursday.

The hens were rescued and now face being sent to the slaughterhouse (Facebook)

Any of the rescued chickens that are not adopted by May 28 will be sent to the slaughterhouse.

In a statement Briana wrote: "There are roughly 1,200 hens needing homes by the May 28 down Dunkeld way.

"Any not adopted will be sent to slaughter."

She added: "Please please consider as they are wonderful pets, so funny and curious, have lovely individual characters and have so many years left to enjoy.

"These are my amazing chookies, all rescues."

Head to Briana's appeal on Facebook to enquire about the hens.
