Scots are 'loving' Valentine's Day postbox decoration created by mystery crafter

A Scot has shared an image of a postbox decorated in honour of Valentine's Day, and social media users are saying they "love" it.

With Valentine's Day on Tuesday, love is in the air, and people all over Scotland are getting ready to celebrate the big day with their other half.

One Glasgow resident decided to take things one step further. A postbox on Dumbarton Road in the Glasgow area of Partick has been topped with a white knitted covering featuring red love hearts and a figure wearing a red outfit. There is also a large gold heart featuring the words 'Happy Valentine's Day'.

The image was taken by local woman Carol Wilson, who was quick to share the amazing find on the Scotland from the Roadside Facebook group.

She wrote: "Dumbarton Road, Partick in Glasgow, I have no idea who does them...the Burns night one was fab and now this one for Valentine's!"

One Facebook users said they "loved" the unique decoration (Carol Wilson)

The post has since received almost 200 likes from fellow users, as well as a number of comments from people sharing their thoughts on the unique decoration.

"Love it," one shared, while a second joked: "A bit early am still trying to get over Christmas, Easter Eggs in shops and summer holiday advertising."

The same postbox was previously decorated last month in honour of Burns Night, topped with a white knitted covering featuring two figures: one playing the bagpipes and the other holding a plate of haggis.

The Burns' poem Address to a Haggis was sewn onto a piece of tartan fabric. The poem was written in 1786 to celebrate his appreciation for haggis, and is traditionally recited at Burns suppers.
