Scots actor Richard Madden in three-way race to be new James Bond say bookies

Scots actor Richard Madden is involved in a three-way race to be the next James Bond according to the bookies.

William Hill have Tom Hardy, Richard Madden and Tom Hopper tied as 4-1 joint favourites as potential successors to Daniel Craig for the iconic role.

Craig recently wrapped up his 15 year and five movie stint as Bond in the latest blockbuster No Time to Die. The film went out in style as the fifth highest-grossing film of 2021.

Hardy is instantly recognisable to fans from films including Venom, Mad Max and Legend as well as his turn on TV screens as a gangster in Peaky Blinders.

Scottish actor Madden of Game of Thrones and The Bodyguard has been busy promoting Eternals, Marvels' latest superhero flick released last week, alongside superstar Angelina Jolie.

36-year-old Hopper may be less recognisable though his star is rising after starring in The Umbrella Academy, Netflix 's hit programme about a dysfunctional family of superpowered siblings.

Among new contenders in the race to become the next international super-spy are Billy Elliott star Jamie Bell and Spider-Man himself, Tom Holland.

Bell, who at 35 would become one of the youngest Bonds to date, has most recently appeared in Without Remorse, as well as Fantastic Four, though he is perhaps best known for playing Billy Elliot in the 2000 film.

While Bell is priced at 9-2, Holland joins Bridgerton's dashing Duke of Hastings, Rege-Jean Page, who has drifted in recent weeks to 6-1.
