Scots A82 shut after woman hit by vehicle with police and ambulance at scene

Cops have shut down the A82 at Fort William after a woman was struck by a vehicle.

Emergency services raced to the busy trunk road around 2.15pm on Friday, October 29.

Police and ambulance crews remain at the scene dealing with the incident. The extent of the woman's injuries is not yet known.

Police have closed the route in both directions.

Motorists are being advised by Traffic Scotland to use an alternative route and expect long delays.

Drivers stuck in tailbacks have taken to social media to warn others, with one claiming they'd not moved for an hour.

One said: "What is happening to A82 Fort William, the whole area is gridlocked."

Another wrote: "We've been stationary over an hour. The queue must stretch well beyond Fort William by now. Both east and west."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were called to a report of a woman being struck by a vehicle on the A82 at Fort William around 2.15pm on Friday, 29 October.

"The road is currently closed while police and ambulance deal with the incident. The A82 trunk road is currently closed in both directions."
