Scots 12-year-old reported after object 'hurled at car' on 50mph dual carriageway

A 12-year-old boy has been reported to youth justice chiefs following an incident earlier this year in which a car was allegedly hit with an object on a 50mph dual carriageway.

The youngster was tracked down following an investigation by Police Scotland into the events of February 6 on the Kingsway West main road in Dundee.

Eyewitnesses said five or six youths had been gathered by the edge of the road, beside Liff Terrace in the city's Dryburgh, when a projectile was allegedly hurled at a passing car.

The object allegedly smashed the rear window of a white Mazda heading south-west at the time.

While no-one was injured, the occupants of the motor were left "badly shaken" as the Record reported at the time.

Having concluded its investigation, Tayside Division confirmed one youngster will be reported to Scotland's Youth Justice Assessor.

A spokesperson for the force said: "A 12-year-old boy will be reported to the Youth Justice Assessor following an investigation into an item thrown at a car on the Kingsway in Dundee.

"The incident happened early on the afternoon of Sunday, 6 February.

"We are grateful to everyone who assisted with our previous appeal for information following the incident."
