Scotrail trains to Edinburgh cancelled as raft of services halted due to flooding

Scotrail has been forced to cancel a raft of services this morning after monsoon weather hit Scotland.

Thunderstorms turned Edinburgh streets into "rivers" last night and the weather has left a wave destruction in its wake around Scotland.

Commuters are already facing travel chaos on the roads this morning due to localised flooding, with evacuations even taking place in parts of Fife after a landslide.

And now, anyone who had planned on taking the train is facing major delays and disruption as services have been brought to a halt due to "heavy flooding" across the country.

In a statement at 8:30am, Scotrail said: "We're unable to run trains on these routes in either direction: Edinburgh - Fife Edinburgh - Glasgow Qn St via Falkirk High & Grahamston Edinburgh/Glasgow - Dunblane Edinburgh - West Calder Aberdeen - Edinburgh/Glasgow Aberdeen - Dyce Inverness - Perth."

They added that replacement transport is being put on wherever possible - but will take time due to "severe" disruption to transport.
