ScotRail trains to and from Queen Street cancelled due to overhead wire damage

Train services arriving and departing from Glasgow Queen Street high level have been cancelled this morning.

Due to damage to overhead wires, no services are currently able to run from the station.

The damage has been caused by adverse weather conditions with Glasgow seeing sub-zero temperatures and heavy snow.

Low-level services are currently not affected and ScotRail is working to fix the issue.

ScotRail have yet to provide more information for travellers.

Network Rail Scotland tweeted: "Another of our overhead line teams is on the way to Glasgow Queen Street, where we've had reports of overhead line damage, meaning trains cant get in or out of the station. We'll fix this as quickly as we can. Thanks for your patience and sorry for the disruption."

A failure of the electricity supply to the overhead lines between Newton and Hamilton is causing some disruption. The power has been restored but services are delayed.

The rail operator has been experiencing major disruption to services from Queen Street and Glasgow Central stations throughout the week due to heavy snow.

The public has been urged only to travel if it is essential as is required under the current stay at home order.
