SCOTRAIL passengers traveling to and from Edinburgh are facing train cancellations and delays amid a signalling fault.
The transport provider has warned passengers travelling to the Scottish capital from the east coast will face major disruption as NetworkRail engineers work on the fault.
ScotRail confirmed that train services running to and from Aberdeen, Dundee and Leven to Edinburgh will be cancelled, delayed or revised on Sunday.
A ScotRail spokesperson said: “We’ve been advised by Network Rail Scotland of a signalling issue in the Kirkcaldy area. Train services towards Edinburgh are subject to delay.
“Affected routes: Aberdeen to Edinburgh; Dundee to Edinburgh; Leven to Edinburgh.”
It comes after passengers travelling from Edinburgh faced disruption on the line to Inverness on Saturday after a passenger fell ill on a train in Perth and Kinross.
Customers travelling between Edinburgh and Glasgow Queen Street to the Highland city were subject to hour-long delays while paramedics responded to the incident.
A spokesperson for ScotRail said at the time: “Due to a passenger taken ill on a train at Dunkeld, our Edinburgh/Glasgow Queen St to Inverness services are subject to delay.”
