ScotRail trains cancelled due to strike action as passengers warned to plan alternative route

ScotRail has warned travellers that most ScotRail services have been cancelled today due to strike action over an ongoing pay dispute.

The rail firm confirmed that a minimal number of services will be running due to the RMT strike action, while key workers will be provided with limited bus services.

It has been confirmed that these strikes will run until at least 25 July 2021.

ScotRail tweeted a warning to customers and apologised for any inconvenience caused.

A statement on their website added: "We appreciate the inconvenience this will have on your travel plans, and we are running every service possible to minimise disruption."

They confirmed that only services on the Glasgow to Ayr, Glasgow to Largs, Glasgow to Gourock, Helensburgh to Edinburgh, and Balloch to Airdrie lines would be running on Sunday.

They added that for key workers, there will be limited bus services for University Hospital Hairmyres, Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline, University Hospital Wishaw and Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy.

The RMT union is calling for pay justice and equality for workers.
