Firefighters scaled ladders to inspect the bridge and the trapped vehicle.

Engineers from Network Rail were called to carry out inspections of the bridge.

The rail line was later allowed to reopen at around 1.20pm.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 11.40am, police were made aware a van had struck a bridge in Sinclair Street. No-one was injured in the incident and the bridge does not appear to be damaged."
