ScotRail services disrupted during rush hour after fox hit by train near Edinburgh Park

ScotRail is reporting disruption to a number of rush hour services after a fox was hit by a train near Edinburgh Park station.

The rail operator adds that engineers are on their way to the scene to carry out an assessment to the track, and trains are running slower in the area as a result. It is feared disruption could continue until around midday.

They confirmed that a fox was involved in the incident after people had expressed fears on social media that a person had been hit by a train.

A number of services bound for Edinburgh and departing the city have been affected, although tickets and smartcards can be used on some bus and tram journeys.

ScotRail say that First South East bus services for Edinburgh, Haymarket, Uphall, Livingston North, Bathgate and Armadale can be used, along with trams between Edinburgh Park, Haymarket and Edinburgh.

The track was fully reopened shortly after 9am but cancellations, delays and revisions may still affect services.
