Scotrail's new Edinburgh single train tickets will now cost just £3

New Edinburgh Scotrail train tickets are being offered at budget prices.

The train operator has announced they are cutting single fares with their new Advance train tickets and punters will be able to travel into Edinburgh from just £2.50, or Glasgow from just £3.00..

Scotrail’s new ticketing scheme comes just in time for Christmas shopping, with the fares available between North Berwick and Edinburgh, and also Ayr and Glasgow Central and will bring customers travelling by train a saving of up to 70 per cent when compared with an Anytime Day single ticket.

The new Advance single fares can be booked now, with travel available from tomorrow (Sunday December 12) onwards.

Lesley Kane, ScotRail Commercial Director, said: “The lead up to Christmas can be difficult with a lot of people feeling the pinch, which is why we’ve introduced these new Advance fares in time for the festive period, so customers can head into the city for less than a price of a coffee.

“Whether they are heading to the Christmas markets with their family, a night out, or just picking up presents, we hope these new fares will provide customers with excellent value for money and help everyone make the most of the railway over the festive period, and beyond.”

Edinburgh – North Berwick ticket comparison

  • Anytime Day Single: £7.20
  • Off-Peak Day Return: £7.40
  • Advance option 1: £3.30 (available until 6pm day before departure)
  • Advance option 2: £2.50 (available up to 3 days before departure)

The new tickets also work with Kids for a Quid too, which means the whole family can make savings on a day out in the city this Christmas.

The tickets will be available all year round and can be purchased for up to 12 weeks ahead of travel. The tickets will see limited numbers available for each fare, so booking in advance will bring passengers the best discounts.

Tickets can be purchased using ScotRail’s usual retail channels, including downloading as an mTicket via the ScotRail app, and the ScotRail website.
