FORTY ScotRail passengers were forced to evacuate a train near Gleneagles after smoke was detected in one of its carriages.
The travel firm said that the train, which left Inverness for Glasgow Queen Street at 5.36am on Friday, had to make an emergency stop between Gleneagles and Dunblane following the reports of smoke inside a carriage.
Scotrail said 40 passengers were evacuated from the train and were safely transferred to another service to Perth.
There were no reports of any injuries, and the passenger's tickets were valid for rail replacement transport.
