ScotRail offer free rail travel to passengers affected by the collapse of Flybe

ScotRail have confirmed that passengers who were due to fly with collapsed airline Flybe can use their trains free of charge.

The free travel offer also extends to those who were employed by the airline - which has around 300 employees in Scotland at its bases in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen.

A tweet from ScotRail reads: "We’re sorry to hear about the collapse of Flybe.

"If you booked with them, you can travel free with us. Just show your boarding pass or booking confirmation.

"Stranded Flybe staff can also travel for free when in uniform or on production of a company ID/payslip".

The collapse of Flybe, Europe's largest regional airline, was announced in the early hours of this morning  - with the blame placed partly on a drop in demand due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The offer runs until Wednesday, March 11.
