Scotrail confirm Edinburgh trains cancelled and others disrupted due to snow

Scotrail have confirmed disruptions are still taking place following Storm Arwen.

Gale force winds and snow descended on Scotland this weekend with the north east and east coast getting the brunt of it.

Edinburgh saw gales of up to 50 miles per hour on Friday night.

Scotrail have taken to Twitter to update their customers as the situation develops through the day as staff work to clear the lines.

The Edinburgh- North Berwick line has re-opened.

However Edinburgh-Tweedback remains closed.

Earlier on today, Scotrail tweeted that for many of their cancelled trains around Scotland, they were unable to source alternative transport for their customers.

Although not a bus replacement service, at 10.47am, the railway company confirmed that Borders Buses (West Coast Motors) will accept train tickets between Edinburgh, Galashiels and Tweedbank.

Other services affected include,

  • Dundee - Aberdeen
  • Aberdeen - Inverness
  • Dumfries - Kilmarnock

Scotrail has also reminded customers that if they couldn't travel, chose not to travel or abandoned the journey due to disruption, they are due a full refund. You can see more information here.
